June 16, 1944 Salt Lake City UT Retired Married 5After graduating from East, I attended the University of Utah, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education. That was followed by a Master of Arts degree from the University of Oregon at Eugene. I returned to Salt Lake to teach English at Clayton Jr. High.
I married a wonderful man, we had three children, and life was good. He died suddenly from a heart condition at the age of 48. Two years later I met a widower with two children. Five children and a new marriage was very interesting, but we all survived. Three children are married now, and we are the proud grandparents of four little girls.
Besides my family, I have enjoyed several avocations. For many years I helped rehabilitate birds of prey for the state and federal government. My children grew up thinking everyone had hawks, owls and falcons living in various rooms of the house. Only once did a Great Horned Owl get loose in the living room during the night.
I also spent many years as a Docent at Hogle Zoo, then was privileged to serve on the Board of Directors. A highlight at the zoo was serving as one of the nannies for the baby organutan, Acara, born in 2005. I saw several East High grads come through the Great Apes building with their grandkids. I was the one behind the glass dressed in a mask and gown.
The updates posted by the Class of 1962 are wonderful. What a great group of people!! (Of course!)
Good luck to all of us in the years to come.

February 02, 1944 Salt Lake City UT Piano teacher SingleWell, I never thought I would be this old, and I never imagined what paths I might follow in the future. After graduating from East, I continued my piano studies at the University of Utah and then at the New England conservatory of Music in Boston. Eventually, I returned to Salt Lake and opened my piano studio. I have taught many children over the years, and it has always been a joy--so retirement is not in my future plans right now.
My love of travel has taken me north of the Arctic Circle, south to the Cape of Good Hope, and also on a rather primitive and bug-infested adventure on the Amazon River. I have yet to visit Asia, but hope to do so soon.
When I think back to my high school days, I treasure my memories of East and of the good times and good friends I made there--high school friends who have become friends for life.
Thanks to the reunion committee for all their hard work to make this a great reunion.

September 19, 1943 Las Vegas NV Homemaker Married 5Thank you all who have worked so very hard to put together this 50-Year Reunion. Can it really be this long since we roamed the halls of East High School!
My children have heard all the wonderful stories about times shared with great friends, lessons taught by noble teachers who tried their best and put up with us, and concerts, plays, sports, and activities that only Eastsiders could possibly be the true winners! Ah, those were the days!
Then, we grew up and went on our separate ways. How I look forward to seeing so many of you again!
The journey taken since those days has been most kind to me and my sweet family. My wonderful husband and I have just celebrated our 48 year anniversary. We have five super kids and 15 grandchildren. We have lived in Utah, Wyoming, California and Nevada. While I have not loved moving, I have loved meeting and having friends in many places. It is always a joy to go back and visit with them. Wish we could do it more often.
We are semi-retired. As parents - we haven't retired. We can be found on the road going to grandchildren's soccer, basketball, volleyball and football games. Richard loves to work and so keeps his fingers in my businesses. When he works, I sew, quilt, and read. We have had the privilege for the last 12 years of serving in the Las Vegas Temple and have loved it.
What's ahead - who knows - but we are looking forward to every day! Looking forward to the reunion and seeing you there!
