After graduating from East I attended BYU for five years, changed my major from math to nursing, and graduated in 1967. My parents moved to Valley Forge, PA area in 1965 and while visiting them I met my future husband, Jack Moyer. We married in the Salt Lake Temple right after I graduated from BYU and have spent our whole married life in southeastern Pennsylvania. I attended graduate school full time for two years receiving my Master's degree in nursing in 1969 from University of Pennsylvania.Jack and I were blessed with 6 children: 2 girls and 4 boys. Both daughters died from brain cancer--the oldest at age 16 and the younger one at age 13. That was certainly the greatest trial that I have experienced. We have four wonderful daughters-in-law and five wonderful grandchildren. I worked in various nursing jobs for a number of years, finally retiring in 2004 to serve a full time mission with my husband. We were called to the Greece Athens Mission and assigned to Nicosia, Cyprus. We loved that experience! Following that we lived in Beijing, China for two years, teaching English through the China Teachers Program at Beida, the "Harvard of Asia." That was also an amazing experience. We are currently serving a Church Service Mission with the PA Philadelphia Mission. I am the mission nurse and my husband is the housing coordinator. I also co-teach the gospel doctrine class. Other hobbies include reading and genealogy and travel. |

Married to Carol Malzahn (East High class of 1964), 6 children and 20 grandchildren. After East High, I graduated from the U of U with a BS in Finance and an MBA. We moved to Kansas City where we lived for 37 years and raised our children. While living in Kansas City, I ran into Lynn Kimball in a movie theatre watching, "The God's Must Be Crazy".I was an executive with Hallmark Cards, Inc. (Tax Director and International Treasurer) and with People to People International (President and Board Member). In those positions I traveled extensively overseas, for 25 years to about 75 countries. One time I ran into Jim Backman at church in London. I retired in 2004 and we moved back to Utah becoming "snow birds" between Midway and St. George. I look forward to meeting "old" friends at the reunion. |

My youngest son is still single and lives in San Francisco. My husband and I will be celebrating our 44 year wedding anniversary in May and find it hard to believe that the years just zoomed by. After graduation, I joined the Utah Air National Guard for a 6-year obligation excluding a mission to Austalia. Returned home to finish school at the U. and marry my sweetheart, Karen Willardsen (Highland Ram, 1962,) two years later. We moved to Mission Viejo, CA, and spent 35 years there, save 3 years in Kissimmee, Florida. Obtained an MBA and travelled the U.S and Canada marketing clinical laboratory instrumentation. At present, I am still having fun doing the same. We have raised 4 children, all graduates from BYU and now share our lives with them and our 18 grandchildren scattered all over the western states and Singapore. We moved to Highland, Utah, in 2005 and love to be back into a state of sensibility, with cars in garages, neighbors 40 feet away, and Wards within walking distance. Four seasons are hard to beat as well. We have house-boated on Lake Powell every year for 28 years, fished at Flaming Gorge for the same, and rode ATVs all over the State since being here. Skiing is now a memory, however. Life is great, health is good, save a few bionic parts. The near future holds an adventure as a missionary couple on a mission or two. Thanks for the reunion efforts! Present pictures of classmates are useless, however! Wouldn't know most if I ran into them, and may even have trouble putting the names with the faces. 50 years takes its toll! |
